One Tree Academy returns to Kawanehoncho for the second gathering in our Trail Walks & Campfire Talks series—this time exploring the world of bikepacking.

Centered around a two-day bikepacking experience along Katsuo Trail Section 5, participants will ride a scenic section of the route across two days—taking in the hills and forests of Kawanehoncho at a relaxed pace. Hosted by Lucas B.B. (Papersky) and James Gibson, the event welcomes Shinya Tanaka and Masashi Kimura (Circles / SimWorks) as guests, alongside the wider One Tree Academy community.

Our basecamp will be set at One Tree Academy beside the Ōi River, where we will gather to camp, learn, and share time together in nature.

Across two days, talks and workshops will unfold around four themes—Nutrition, Movement, Community, and Purpose—explored through the lens of bikepacking and its many styles and possibilities. Drawing from their extensive cycling experience across Japan and around the world, our guests will offer practical insight and advice on bikepacking approaches, gear, and equipment—whether you’re bikepacking-curious or looking to refine and upgrade your setup.

Time will be shared between riding, trail learning, and relaxation—cooking together, sharing stories around the campfire, resting beneath the trees—whether in a tent or hammock—and relaxing in the sauna, with the option to visit a nearby onsen during the day.

The event is open to anyone with their own bicycle. Previous bikepacking experience or specialized equipment is not necessary—our support car will carry any heavier gear to and from camp, so you’re free to ride light or carry your own setup if you prefer. All you need is a bike, camping gear for one night, and the willingness to ride the hills of Kawanehoncho.

Participation is limited. Advance registration is required.

2026年5月30日（土）– 31日（日）｜静岡県・川根本町

One Tree Academy は、静岡県・川根本町にて開催する「Trail Walks & Campfire Talks」シリーズの第2回となる集いを迎えます。今回のテーマは「バイクパッキング」です。

カツオトレイル・セクション5を舞台に、2日間にわたるバイクパッキング体験を行います。参加者は、川根本町の山や森の風景をゆったりとしたペースで楽しみながら、2日間に分けてルートを走ります。

本イベントは Lucas B.B.（Papersky）と James Gibson が主催し、ゲストとして田中慎也さん、木村まさしさん（Circles / SimWorks）を迎え、One Tree Academyのコミュニティとともに時間を過ごします。

ベースキャンプは、大井川沿いにある One Tree Academy に設営します。自然の中でキャンプをしながら、学び、語り合い、時間を共有します。

2日間を通して、トークやワークショップは「栄養（Nutrition）」「動き（Movement）」「コミュニティ（Community）」「目的（Purpose）」の4つのテーマを軸に展開されます。バイクパッキングという視点から、その多様なスタイルや可能性を探ります。ゲストは、日本各地、そして世界での豊富なサイクリング経験をもとに、バイクパッキングの考え方やスタイル、ギアや装備について、実践的なアドバイスや知見を共有します。これから始めてみたい方にも、より良い装備やスタイルを探している方にも、新たなヒントとなる時間です。

2日間は、ライドとトレイルラーニング、そしてリラックスの時間がゆるやかに行き交います。焚き火を囲んで料理を楽しみ、語り合い、テントやハンモックで木々の下に身を休め、サウナで整うひとときも。日中には近隣の温泉を訪れる時間も設けられます。

本イベントは、ご自身の自転車をお持ちの方であればどなたでもご参加いただけます。バイクパッキングの経験や特別な装備は必要ありません。重たい荷物はサポートカーでキャンプ地まで運ぶため、身軽に走ることも、ご自身で装備を運ぶことも可能です。必要なのは、自転車と1泊分のキャンプ道具、そして川根本町の起伏ある道を楽しむ気持ちです。

定員に限りがあるため、事前申込制となります。

Saturday, May 30｜5月30日（土）

Morning｜午前
We gather in Senzu, Kawanehoncho and begin our ride to One Tree Academy at Nagashima Park (KAWANOVA PARK), covering approximately 15km, with a stop for lunch along the way.
川根本町・千頭に集合し、長島公園（KAWANOVA PARK）内の One Tree Academy を目指してライドをスタートします（約15km）。途中で昼食をとります。

Afternoon｜午後
After arriving, we visit Sessokyō Onsen Kaikan, followed by campfire talks and workshops.
到着後は接岨峡温泉会館で温泉に入り、その後はキャンプファイヤートークやワークショップを行います。

Late Afternoon & Evening｜夕方〜夜
Time to slow down—sauna, cooking dinner together, and continuing conversations inspired by the day’s talks.
夕方から夜にかけては、サウナや夕食づくりを楽しみながら、トークで生まれた対話をさらに深めていきます。

Sunday, May 31｜5月31日（日）

Morning｜午前
We begin the day with breakfast and an early morning sauna, followed by a short Walk & Talk. The return journey will be by trolley train. (Okuōi-Kōjō Station 10:22 ~ Sesōkyō Onsen Station 10:28)
朝は朝食づくりと早朝サウナからスタートし、その後ショート Walk & Talk を行います。復路はトロッコ電車で移動します。（奥大井湖上駅 10:22 発 → 接岨峡温泉駅 10:28 着）

Late Morning & Early Afternoon｜午前後半〜午後前半
After returning, we take part in a final workshop (TBA), then pack up camp and prepare for the ride. We return to Senzu by bicycle at a relaxed pace.
ウォーク後は最終ワークショップ（内容未定）に参加し、その後キャンプの撤収とライドの準備を行います。準備が整い次第、ゆったりとしたペースで千頭まで自転車で戻ります。

Closing｜クロージング
Closing words by Lucas B.B., followed by the Katsuo Trail tradition of Ippon-tsuri Jime—a one-catch closing with the call: “Totta! Totta!”
最後は Lucas B.B. によるクロージングとともに、「一本釣り締め（Ippon-tsuri Jime）」で締めくくります。「トッタ！トッタ！」の掛け声でひとつになります。

Information

• A free camping area is available next to the One Tree Academy decking (usage has been arranged in advance) — tents, tarps, and hammocks are all welcome, as you prefer.

• Please bring your own camping and cooking equipment.

• We will cook together on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Please bring your own food, snacks, and drinks (including alcohol, if desired).

• If you prefer not to camp, local ryokan accommodation is available nearby.

• Toilets are available on site.

• Onsen facilities are nearby (closing at 8:00 PM).

• Free parking is available on site.

• If you are joining the morning Walk & Talk, please wear suitable footwear and clothing for light trail walking. Please also bring ¥180 for the return train ride.

• Water and hot drinks will be provided and available 24/7.

• A sauna will be available during the event (schedule TBD). Please bring swimwear, towels, sandals, etc.
  Sauna Use & Safety Guidelines

• Nearest train station: Sessokyō-Onsen Station.

• In case of rain, activities will be rescheduled or moved indoors to Sessōkyō Hot Springs Hall.

• In severe weather conditions, the event will be cancelled.

• This event is covered by event accident insurance. Compensation amounts are subject to limits. We recommend bringing your health insurance card as a precaution.

• All portrait rights and publication rights for photographs, videos, articles, records, etc. taken during the event belong to the organisers. These may be used for television, newspapers, magazines, the internet, posters for the next event, pamphlets, websites, etc.
  
  

• 無料キャンプサイト（事前に使用許可を得ています）をご利用いただけます。場所は One Tree Academy デッキ横となります。テント、タープ、ハンモックなど、お好きなスタイルでご参加いただけます。

• キャンプ道具および調理器具は各自ご持参ください。

• 土曜日の夜と日曜日の朝は、みんなで料理を楽しむ予定です。食材や軽食、飲み物（アルコールを含む）は各自ご用意ください。

• キャンプをされない方は、近隣の旅館などの宿泊施設もご利用いただけます。

• 会場にトイレあり。

• 近隣に温泉施設あり（20:00まで）。

• 駐車場あり（無料）。

• 朝の Walk & Talk に参加される方は、軽いトレイルウォークに適した服装・靴でお越しください。また、帰りの電車代として180円をご持参ください。

• 水および温かい飲み物は24時間ご利用いただけます。

• サウナをご利用いただけます。水着、タオル、サンダルなどをご持参ください。（時間は後日案内予定）

• 荒天の場合： イベントは中止となる可能性があります。
